Funding Facts:
- Illinois has seen $800 million in cuts to education since 2008.
- Illinois is 50th in the country in amount of funding states contribute to public education.
- At CPS, with no federal stimulus or TIF windfalls to bail us out, the 2013/14 school year is not looking good fiscally. In addition, pension payments are coming due next year and CPS has drained all of its cash reserves into this year’s budget. What’s at stake? Art, music, libraries, books, equipment and supplies, nurses, counselors, social workers.
